UVA's flagship choral ensemble, heard by thousands each season in performances of a cappella and accompanied choral repertoire, including major works with orchestra.

As part of the Charlottesville community’s celebration of Juneteenth, the Jefferson-designed landmark hosted “Rock and Reel: Monticello’s Folk Traditions,” presented by the Early Music Access Project.

The Department of Music produces over 120 concerts annually, bringing the innovation and diversity of our academic mission to the public. Our concerts are a vital part of the creative arts programming at the University of Virginia and in the Charlottesville community. 

Performing ensembles are at the heart of the Department of Music’s mission, from the jazz chamber groups playing Jazz in the Amphitheater to the Cavalier Marching Band performing in front of thousands of fans at Scott Stadium.
