Performing ensembles are at the heart of the Department of Music’s mission, from the jazz chamber groups playing Jazz in the Amphitheater to the Cavalier Marching Band performing in front of thousands of fans at Scott Stadium.
The Music Department's student ensembles bring together students, faculty, and community members in dozens of ways. They make music in myriad performance environments and genres, including early music, jazz, choral ensembles, bluegrass, African drumming, orchestras and bands, string quartets, and more.
